You will need the following programs:
1. open mp32wav program.....find the path to your music and you will see them in the field on the right hand side
2. click on the mp3 you want and then click on the little arrow that points down
3. click on convert and wait for the blue line to finish... (important...look to see what the download path is....you will see that written just above where it is loading) You can change the path by rightclicking in the blank field .(preferences/set output directory) ok..now you can close MP32WAV
PART 2
Open CoolEdit
1. file/open/.......find your new wav
2. .play the wav..you can find the part with your mouse...drag it along and you will see it highlight.....play around a bit with that......
3. when you have highlighted the part you want (try not to make it more than 1/3 of the wav or it will be too big)
4. click on edit/copy
5. file/new instance (a new window will open)
6. edit/paste
7. file/save as …. make a separate folder for these ...i always name them with "cut" on the end so as not to confuse them with the original
8. close Cool Edit
The wav is still way too big...so we are going to compress it down further
PART 3
1. go to start/programs/accessories/entertainment/sound recorder (or wherever yours is on your system)
2. file/open.......find your cut wav
3 . file/properties/convert now/ok
4 . see the box marked "format"...click on the little arrow and find "mpeg layer 3"
5. in the box called "attributes"...find "16bits, 11.025 Hz, Mono...then ok/ok
6. close the sound recorder..say yes when it asks do you want to keep the changed file.
That's it! It really does get easier the more times you do it. Just have fun!
